In the 2014 Chevy Impala, the transmission control module is inside of the transmission in the engine compartment. It is situated beneath the end cover at the rear point of the case. This particular mechanism processes electrical signals to regulate the transmission. It receives information from sensors and then uses that information to control gear shifting. This module fails because of a broken circuit. A failed one needs replacing immediately or it can cause additional damage. Symptoms of a failing transmission control module include unpredictable shifting, inability to shift into high gears, issues downshifting, stuck in gear, delayed shifting, and poor fuel economy. The check engine light will come on, as well. The average cost to replace this module on the 2014 Impala is $870 to $930, including labor.
