The thermostat in a 2014 Nissan Altima can be found inside the thermostat housing which is located on the coolant line that is at the lower part of Your engine. This is a black box that has some wires going to it when You are looking for it. The thermostat is designed to control the flow of coolant in Your vehicle and it will open and close to allow coolant out of the engine to go back to either the radiator or heater core depending on the HVAC system status. If Your thermostat gets stuck open or closed it can lead to the engine overheating and not running right so You will need to replace it if it does break.
