The ambient temperature sensor in the 2015 Nissan Altima is located behind the front grill and on the front of the radiator. This sensor is responsible for sensing the outside temperature and adjusts the cooling of the AC inside the car, proportional to the outside temperature. This means that on a hot day when it's hot outside, the sensor will tell the ECU that even after the set temperature is reached in the cabin of the car, the AC will need to keep working. This way, it can stay at maximum efficiency, to maintain the temperature due to the excess heat outside. Any problem with this sensor may cause the interior temperature of the car to become uncomfortable. The replacement cost of this sensor on average is between $80 to $110.
