The 2017 Mazda6 uses SAE 0W-20 engine oil. Mazda also recommends that You use full synthetic oil when You need to change it. Oil comes in two main varieties, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic oil is made in a laboratory and uses chemicals to provide superior lubrication, and conventional is made from petroleum. Synthetic oil also lasts longer meaning You can go 7,500 miles between changes compared to the 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend checking Your oil at least one time a month to make sure that it is properly filled and free from debris. Debris can cause excessive wear and tear in Your engine and potentially clog it as well.
