There are two common expansions for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) of 2E1C for Your BMW. Either "Firing Cylinder 5" or "DME Generator, Communications". Neither is terribly helpful, from the descriptions, but usually the reason You're going to see this particle error is that Your spark plugs need to be replaced; at least, that's about 90% of the cases I've ever encountered, though it could also, rarely, be the coils as well, if Your plugs are still pretty new. Oh, iMeant to add, this is because of mIS Firings, so You should actually be able to hear Your engine missing in tandem with this code.
