The BMW's 2A7C error code is connected to the operation of the BMW's VANOS system. It may point to a faulty sensor or solenoid, and is often connected to the accumulation of debris and operating soot/sludge. VANOS is responsible for adjusting the valve timing of the BMW's engine as it accelerates. When the 2A7C code is thrown it can indicate the oil supply non-return valves of the VANOS and Its filter screens have become clogged with d***y oil sludge. As the system gets plugged up, a "check engine" light or operating error warning light will illuminate, engine performance will be reduced and drivers may experience increased fuel consumption and rough idle, especially if solenoids are at fault.

The 2A7C code for BMW is connected to the intake of VANOS solenoid. Might be a faulty solenoid, a d***y solenoid, or even, in some situations, an oil change that is not done often enough. This does, however, require a BMW-specific scan tool to be able to check these.
