If You notice that there is a check engine light on the dash of Your BMW You will want to use an OBD II scan tool. If You scan it and notice that the code iS7EC then it means that there is a problem with the engine control module. Usually this code will be thrown when there is a problem with the computer. This can lead to the engine running rough as it is not getting the correct signals for air and fuel. If You notice this code come on the best way to fix it is to just replace the engine control module. It is also possible that a dealership could try to re-flash Your ECM, but that may not fix it long term.
