When You have a code in Your BMW the first thing that You should do is stop driving as soon as possible. Driving with a code can cause more damage to Your vehicle. Once You have stopped then You can use an OBD II scan tool on Your car to determine what has a fault. If You have a code A0B1 that means that there is a problem with the shift position. This is usually caused by a loose connection and You will need to check the wiring from Your shifter assembly to Your transmission to make sure that it is all connected tightly and free from any fraying or debris that could prevent it from communicating properly.

The BMW INPA Error code aob1 indicates an input, selector lever/clutch switch, implausible.
