The BMW e36 has a battery that is from the group size H6. The newest BMW vehicles have made a switch from a bci 92 inline-6 or bci 91 inline-4 engine to a bci 48. This change means that this battery will also fit the e36. It can usually be used as an alternate. To replace the battery, You can expect to pay between $80 and $185 for parts alone. If You also choose to pay a professional mechanic to perform the service, You can expect to pay between $103 and $199 for labor.

The OEM battery was a BCI 92 i6 engine or a BCI 91 i4 engine both with a vent tube... The newer BMW cars switched to the BCI 48. Those will fit in an E36 car and thus many shops offer that as an alternate battery for all E36.
