The BMW F10's Central Gateway Module is part of the Front Electronic Module that is installed in the A-pillar of the passenger footwell. The Central Gateway or ZGM is described as a 'control unit within a control unit' and is responsible for facilitating a single hub for operating statistics, like speed within the BMW. It communicates between other modules and systems via ethernet. <\p. The FEM controls the exterior mirrors, brake lights and both the exterior and interior lights. It also houses a fuse panel for the BMW''s central locking drive, outside door handle electronics, the power window regulators, the steering column switch cluster, the rear Electronic Module (REM) and headlight driver module.
