There's a common scenario, here, where either one of the wheel sensors goes bad, triggering this, or the ABS control module itself fails. 2001 BMW 330xi: I had my battery disconnected for a week and a half while I was doing some work. When I got it back online I had the dreaded trifecta of indicator lights. Both of my scan tools indicated a DSC 5A code. I didn't find any real solid info on the 5A code but did see where the steering angle sensor might have some impact. I turned the ignition on and turned the steering wheel all the way to the left and then all the way to the right (repeat that 3 times) the lights went out after the first cycle from left to right. I'll have to drive it for a while before I consider it fixed, but it sure looks good for now.
