If You get a P1009 Honda error code in the Honda CR-V has an issue with the Variable Valve Timing control advance malfunction. This can be caused by many different reasons such as engine oil level, faulty VTC oil control solenoid or circuit, or it can also be caused by a stretched timing chain or damaged tensioner. The reason for the code is due to the VTC actuator so the valve timing is optimized depending on driving conditions. The camshaft phase continues or the camshaft phase is abnormal which is detected and causes the error code. The cost for the replacement will range from $300 - $500 including the labor and parts from the auto service shop.
