The Ford Transit block heater is located towards the front of the engine. The main purpose of an engine block heater is to make it easier to start the engine, but preheating the engine oil, antifreeze, and internal engine components also reduces wear and tear, reduces emissions, and makes for a more comfortable environment inside the vehicle by allowing the heater to blow hot sooner. It's only necessary on days when temperatures fall below 5 degrees Fahrenheit. A remote starter or very brief idling time will effectively warm the engine in more moderate temperatures. An engine heater can reduce the risk of engine damage and extend the life of Your vehicle.

The heater core on the Ford transit is located under the dashboard, near the steering wheel on the driver side.
