The manufacturer of Hyundai Sonata Hybrid advises that the type of HEV fluid You use should be specified as pentosin pentofrost a2 hot phosphate asian concentrate antifreeze. HEV fluid is what is used by Hybrid cars to cool electronic motors and parts. The coolant is not used for the direct cooling of the engine, but is used to avoid the creation of rust within the coolant system and to lower the freezing temperature. The variations in the coolant ingredients are made because the engine blocks are made of different metals and require different additives to avoid the development of rust on the hose metals. It's always recommended that You flush the coolant system every three to five years or every 30,000 miles. This is done to keep out all the rust and other debris in Your coolant system so it can cool the engine efficiently.
