The Lexus GX470 O2 sensor is located underneath the vehicle on the exhaust pipe. There are four sensors in total, 2 upstream and 2 downstream. If Your sensor has become faulty You may notice signs such as a loss of fuel efficiency, higher emissions, black smoke or a sulfur smell from the exhaust, or failure of the catalytic converter. You can typically avoid converter failure if the issue is found early enough. An O2 sensor can last 3 to 5 years or 30,000 to 50,000 miles. They are subject to carbon build up due to the exhaust output. Car grease and oil can become stuck on them. To help with the longevity You can use the proper fuel octane level and adhere to the service intervals in the owners manual especially for the spark plugs and air filters.
