The Lexus GX470 uses a power steering pump to circulate lubricants in and around gears and pistons that help move the wheels with ease. The GX470's pump is equipped, per owner's manual, with Dexron II or IIiATF for maximum performance. Maintaining lubricant levels prevents damage to the pump and the GX470's steering hydraulics. The PS reservoir can be found under the hood in the engine bay. It is located on the passenger side of the vehicle next to the firewall. A long plastic cylinder holds the PS fluid housed under a plastic cover. The container is usually marked by symbols or lettering to identify it. If the steering needs attention You will notice whining or high pitched noises when turning the wheel.
