When You have a check engine light in Your MINI Cooper the first thing that You should do is try to stop driving as soon as possible. Driving with a check engine light can cause permanent damage to the components in Your engine. Once You have stopped You can use an OBD II scan tool to read the codes that are stored in the ECU. If You have a code 2F1A then that means that there is a temperature sensor fault. When the temperature sensor has a fault it will not give You the correct information. Usually the sensor stops working when it breaks and that is a sign that You will need to replace it with a new one.
