When You have a code 16 on the dash of Your Nissan Altima that means that there is a problem with the airbag system in Your car. That code is usually displayed when there is a problem with one of the crash sensors for the vehicle. The crash sensors are what detect if You have crashed Your car. They operate by measuring the G forces and will deploy the airbags if they detect a sudden excessive force on the vehicle. If one of these sensors fails then the airbags may not deploy in a crash. I recommend that You take Your car to a dealership because the airbag system will need a dealership level scan tool in order to diagnose and re progRam.

A malfunction in the crash zone sensor circuit causes the Nissan airbag code 16.
