When You have a check engine light in Your Chevy Impala the first thing that You should do is try to stop driving. Continuing to drive with a check engine light can cause more damage to Your vehicle's components. When You are stopped You can use an OBD II scan tool to read the code that is stored in the ECU. If You have a code P0010 that means that there isa problem with the VVT camshaft position sensor. Usually when this happens You will notice that the engine is running rough and it may also be mIS Firing. This light most commonly comes on when the sensor is failing and You will usually need to replace it to get it working properly again.
