When You have a check engine light turn on in Your Jeep Wrangler the first thing that You should do is try to get off the road as soon as possible. Driving with a check engine light can damage the vital components in Your vehicle. Once You have stopped You can use an OBD II scan tool to read the code that was stored in the vehicle's ECU. If You have a code P0404 that means that there is a problem that was detected with the EGR valve. This valve is used to send exhaust gasses back through the engine again to be burnt off safely. If this gets stuck opened or closed that will throw the check engine light to let You know to inspect the valve and replace it if needed.
