The P1664 trouble code on a Mercedes Benz is shown when the vehicle senses a problem with the heater booster. This is a part which is used to heat up the engine coolant quicker than using just the heat provided by the engine alone. It seems to be a pretty common fault on diesel Mercedes with multiple threads discussing the issue. There doesnt seem to be a fix for the problem with most users either having it repaired at the dealer or continuing to drive without it. This fault will not cause the vehicle to fail to start or cause any notable change in day to day operation outside of the winter season.
