The AudiManufacturer has issued a technical service bulletin for the Fault code P17E100 which is stored in the TCM. You will also notice the gearbox in limp mode and a transmission warning message in the instrument cluster. The fault is caused by the transmission software that is too sensitive and You will have to take it to the dealership to have a software update installed into the TCM. The vehicle's condition must match the condition specified for the TSB to be applicable and get the fault to reset from the dealerhsip. You will not need any components from the vehicle replaced and it should take about 3-4 hours for diagnosis and perform the software update.

Fault P17E100 (DFCC 9473) is located in the control panel for transmission. The DFCC is a 4-6 digit code that is usually issued before the fault code (Figure 1). The fault is very erratic and typically happens after a cold start. Fault is triggered by the transmission of information that is too responsive.
