If You have a check engine light turn on in Your Chevy Cruze the first thing You should do is stop driving as soon as possible. If You drive with a check engine light on You are risking damaging components in Your engine since there is a fault that has been detected. Once You have stopped You can use an OBD II scan tool on Your vehicle to determine what is wrong. If You have a code P2227 then that means that there is a fault that was detected with the barometric pressure sensor. This means that Your vehicle's ECU has lost communication with that sensor and that can lead to the engine running rough since it does not know the exact air pressures.

The P2227 code in the Chevy Cruze indicates that the barometric (BARO) sensor is used by the engine control module ( ECM) to calculate atmospheric pressure. Pressure is affected by weather, air volume, and altitude. ... Whether the voltage returned to the ECM is too high or too low, the P2227 code would be set.
Just replace the barometric sensor on my Chevy 2011 2500 HD engine light came back on
