The Subaru Outback with the 3.6L engine has a maximum towing capacity of 2,700 pounds. This is enough to carry some small camping trailers, as well as light fishing boats, quads, or motorcycles. The Outback does have a standard 2 inch hitch receiver as well so You can use different hitches on the back. The Subaru Outback is not known for being an ideal towing vehicle. Usually if You want to tow larger things You will want to get a different SUV or a truck. Vehicles built on a ladder frame generally have stronger towing ratings because they have a stronger frame than the unibody design that is found in Your Subaru.
