The oil type and capacity will depend on the year of Your VW Passat as well as the engine in it but for example, if You have the 2019 model with a 2.0 L engine then You'll need about 5 quarts of either SAE 0W-20 or 0W-30 oil. You will be fine with either option but You may want to go for the 0W-30 if You are in a part of the country where You do a lot of driving in more extreme heat. You can get away with using conventional if You'd like but full synthetic is recommended for its superior engine protection and benefits to fuel efficiency. -
