The freeze plug for a Ford Ranger 3.0 can be found at the side, back, or beneath the engine block. Freeze plugs are designed to keep the coolant in the sections of the engine that it should be in and mainly keep it from expanding out when the coolant freezes, hence the name. If the plugs go bad then they will pop out of the engine, as they are the weakeSTSection of it. If this happens You will end up with frozen coolant in sections it is not meant for. This is damaging to the car and will lead to engine trouble. For this reason, if You get a trouble code saying they are damaged then You need to take the car in soon to get it fixed.
