Some GMC Acadias, when configured, use a fob as a key. Inside the fob, however, is a standard key that can be used on the vehicle as well. Theres a little button on the side of the fob that can be pushed out to use the key. This key goes into a small hole on the underside of the door handle. Push the key all the way into the hole, and be firm with it. When this happens, the removable housing on the door handle should come off. Youll be able to see a traditional lock, which can be opened via the hidden key inside the fob. This key can also be used in the slot compartment inside the vehicle to start it.

One can find a traditional key hidden inside of the key FOB of the 2018 GMC Acadia. There will be a square button on the side of the FOB, and a key will pop out. Then use the newly discovered key to pry off the removable housing on the driver side door handle by pushing the key up as far as it can go inside the small hole on the underside of the handle. The housing won't come off unless the key is all the way inside. Once that housing is off, a classic door lock will be underneath to use the same key to open the door. For another way to start the vehicle (in cases where the FOBs battery has died), there is a small compartment inside the center console of the 2018 GMC Acadia. Set the key FOB in that slot/compartment and then push the start button of the vehicle to start the Acadia. If it doesn't work the fist time, remove and replace the FOB and try again.

In the 2018 GMC Acadia, the key goes into the ignition switch located on the right side of the steering column. The ignition switch is typically positioned behind the steering wheel, where you insert the key to start the vehicle. It's worth noting that some 2018 GMC Acadia models might also feature keyless entry and ignition systems, allowing you to start the vehicle with the push of a button rather than inserting a physical key into the ignition switch. If your Acadia has keyless entry and ignition, you'll usually find a designated spot or slot to place the key fob for the vehicle to recognize and start.
