There are two fuse boxes in the 2006 Chevy Silverado. The box housing the brake light fuse is in the passenger compartment. The access door to the fuse block is on the edge of the instrument panel on the driver's side. The cover pulls off without any tools, but You do need to have the driver's side door open to access it. The fuse for the brake lights is 15 amps and should be number 5, but You can verify its position by looking at the diagram on the inside cover You just removed. There's a good chance that there are spare fuses behind the access cover, as well, but You need to make sure You use one with the correct amperage. To change the fuse, simply hold it between Your index finger and thumb and pull out gently. You can also use a plastic removal tool designed just for this purpose. Press the new one into place and replace the cover.
