The oil pressure sensor on the Ford Ranger 2.3 (at least, for recent model years) is going to be in the block behind the passenger side cylinder head. If You slide underneath on that side after jacking up the vehicle, it's easier to see it through the PS wheel well. There'll be a single wire going to it that's green and white. This is a cheap part to replace: You can pick up the Duralast Oil Pressure Switch, P5407, from AutoZone for about $15, and as You see, it's just a screw in piece, so You'll loosen the old one, disconnect the wire, put in the new one, tighten it down, and hook the wire back up.

The oil pressure sensor will usually be located near the back and top of the engine compartment, and bolted into the engine block, connected by an electrical clip to the car's computer/electrical system.
