The idle air control valve (IAC) is located near the throttle body of the intake manifold on a Chevy S-10. An IAC valve is a device commonly used in fuel-injected vehicles to control the engine's idling rotational speed (RPM). When the idle control valve fails it can cause all sorts of issues with the vehicle, and in some cases may even render it undrivable. Usually, a bad or failing idle control valve will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential issue. One of the most common symptoms associated with a problematic IAC valve is irregular idle speed. Another more serious symptom of an issue with the idle control valve is engine stalling. If the idle control valve fails, it may leave the vehicle without a source of air to maintain a proper idle.

The IAC is located on top of the throttle body, with 4 wires coming out of it, and take I believe a #20 torx bit to remove it. This is on a 2.2L engine.
