The most common reason for the Ford Ranger airbag light to be on is because the car had its airbag deployed so if You have not had that happen or disconnected the battery You should take it to a dealership to make sure there are no other problems involving the airbag. It could also be caused by an issue with the seat belts and will need to be inspected by the dealership. To reset the airbag light in a Ford Escape You can follow these directions listed here - Step 1 insert the key into the ignition and turn the switch to "on". Step 2 Pay attention to the light as it will illuminate for seven seconds and then shut off. After the shut-off turn the ignition off and wait for 3 seconds. You will have to repeat this process 1-2 times before it goes into effect and once You start the engine the SRS light should shut off.

If your ford ranger has an airbag light that stays on that means there could be a problem with your seat belts, or the indicator is saying that you've been in a crash and you need the airbag reset.
