If the foot activated liftgate is not working on Your Nissan Rogue the first thing You should check is the battery in the key fob. Your vehicle must either be unlocked or have the battery in the key fob charged so that it knows when You are approaching the vehicle. If that does not solve it then there could be a problem with the sensor. The sensor for this is located on the underside of the rear bumper and it is prone to getting d***y and covered in debris. If this happens then it will not be able to detect when Your foot is there to try to open the tailgate. If that is the case try cleaning off the sensor to get it working again.

I was having problems with the liftgate on my 2019 Rogue. Kicking motion would not work nor would the button on the key fob. Pressing the button on the liftgate, or the button on the dash would result in the liftgate opening about 10 inches and closing again. Started working properly after going through a car wash. We have been having a mild/wet winter so far and the vehicle was very d***y from road grime. A week laterit stopped working again and another trip through the car wash got it working again. Will try to clean it out well at home with a hose.
