If the Jeep Grand Cherokee is having an issue with the alternator then there will be a few obvious signs. The first is that the battery is dead. While a dead battery does not always mean that the alternator is bad, a bad alternator is a common reason for a dead battery. If it has not fully died then You may notice that the instrument panel is dim, or not working right. It may even flicker and make noise. This is because the amount of power going to it is changing. Replacing the alternator will cost You between $300 to $500, including parts and labor. This is a bit pricy, but You really have no choice but to do it. If You wait and let a bad one sit then Your battery will likely be no good in a few weeks, which will cost You another $100 or so. If You want to replace it Yourself then You will need to unbolt the clamps on it and pull it out. Thankfully it is right up front and easy to get to.

If your Jeep Grand Cherokee's lights are flashing but your vehicle won't start, you are most likely dealing with a failed starter motor, fuel pump and in some cases weak battery.
