If the rear door in Your Kia Sportage the first thing that You should do is inspect the latch assembly. If the latch is damaged then it will not unlatch when You press the unlock button, or the open button. Another thing to check is the fuse to the door assembly. If You have the power liftgate option installed on Your Sportage then it may not work properly when the fuse to the motor is blown. The last thing that You should check is the actual frame to it. If Your vehicle was in an accident it is possible that the frame around the door got thrown out of alignment and that will make it impossible to open.

Sportage boot not opening, I had this problem, But only if the sun had been shining on the car or boot, allowing in to cool or parking it in the shade for a couple of mins (underground car park) cured it, Slacken off the latch plate and slam the door shut the tighten the latch plate again,should fix it,Metal expanding with the heat is the problem!.
