If the RPM gauge on Your Kia Rio isn't functioning, it's almost certainly because of a blown fuse, a wire that has been severed, or a bad connection. While there are some more outlandish possibilities, such as the throttle sensor failing and the instrument cluster PCB going kaput, these are going to be Your wit's end scenarios, and not the dominant culprit. So, to check the fuse here, You're going to want to access the internal cabin fuse box, which is inset in the dashboard to the left of Your steering wheel. Go ahead and pull the cover off, and it'll expose all the relays. You're going to want to look at the CLUSTER fuse, which is a 10A and is responsible for most the gauges, as well as the A/BAG IND, also a 10A, which despite its name is also responsible for the instrument cluster.

The key cause of the failure of the RPM gauge is the blown fuse with the tachometer. Test the fuses to make sure they are working properly. Poor wiring may also cause a malfunctioning tachometer or a faulty tachometer relay switch.
