Growing up in a lower class family in rural America, my family had to save money where we could; no repairmen, no landscapers, no mechanics. We did a bit of everything, and that's largely how I got my start in vehicle repair and maintenance. Of course, that was years ago before the internet was widespread -- our best friends were Chilton manuals and trial and error. Today, while I don't work in the automotive sector, I still cherish opportunities to stay true to my roots and help the next generation of DIYers take advantage of instructional resources on Vehicle History.
