When creating the 2010 Edge, Ford went above and beyond in making sure it would remain reliable on all your travels. Despite their efforts, problems still come up. Many of these issues have gone unnoticed until well after the cars hit the market, resulting in recalls and technical service bulletins.

Does the 2010 Ford Edge have any recalls for the brake booster?

No recalls have been issued as of August 2020, but many complaints have come in, such as:

  • Increased effort to engage the brakes
  • Brake-pedal feels spongy underfoot
  • A hissing noise coming out of the booster

Thankfully, throughout this piece, we will share the details of the brake booster issues affecting the 2010 Ford Edge. Then, with that info in hand, you can seek the proper repairs and resume using your vehicle to the fullest extent.

Small Tear Development in the Brake Booster Diaphragm

NHTSA ID: 10054925

The brake booster is a vital part in the power braking system that helps decrease the effort needed to stop the car. The booster uses a rubber diaphragm to hold pressure in the back half of the canister as it draws air in the other side.

As that happens, the atmospheric pressure inside helps push the piston into the master cylinder without requiring you to press hard on the brake pedal. This part can only perform that tough job when its diaphragm remains in good condition.

Unfortunately, on the 2010 Edge, the diaphragm has the potential to develop a small tear that eliminates its ability to hold pressure. When that happens, you will notice that it’s much harder to press the brake pedal down. It’s also common to hear a hissing noise coming from the booster as you activate the brakes.

How Should You Respond to a 2010 Ford Edge Recall Notice?

Not sure if your 2010 Ford Edge has recalls? You’ll be happy to hear that it’s easy to check. You just have to navigate to the website for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to find out. While there, type your VIN or vehicle year, make, and model into the box to receive a recall report.

After learning that your car needs recall repairs, call Ford’s customer service line at 1-866-436-7332. They will tell you where to go to get the work done by an authorized technician.

Brake booster problem
I am have the brake booster problem and it should be recalled due to the cost to repair it s over 800 dollars and I was told by my mechanic that it is a problem with the Ford Edge 2010 SEl models so why is the item not a recall and if it becomes a recall how can I get a refund of the money that I paid.

Brake booster 2010 Ford Edge
My car is in the shop right now for its 3rd brake booster, and I'm having to pay for it. Not happy with Ford right now. My car only has 112,000 miles on it. First replacement was at 31,000. Seems they put another faulty booster on my car the 2nd time. Ugh!

Brake Booster Problem
Took my Edge SEL 2010 to mechanic to check brakes. He called back saying he had almost had a wreck because car wouldn't stop because of bad booster. I'm so glad to see it's not just me. If Ford does a recall I hope there's a way to get money back.
