The 2010 Edge can last over 250,000 miles with only some spark plug and brake booster issues. At $7,911 – 9,732, it’s affordable for a well-made midsize SUV.

The cabin is quiet, suspension is very smooth and the safety scores are better than rivals.
dislikeFilled The Bad
Interior materials are cheap, braking distances are long and the stereo system is tricky to use.

Is the 2010 Ford Edge a Good Used SUV?

  • Yes, 2010 is a good year. Owner reviews like the smooth ride, spacious interior, and the powerful engine.

  • Performance is good from the standard V6 engine offered.
  • The 2010 Edge is a very safe SUV, earning a perfect 5-star rating in government crash tests.
  • Fuel economy is okay for an SUV, at up to 20 MPG combined.

Ford edge is a great SUV!
Reliable, luxurious, enough horsepower, AWD. Nice interior, good paint, great sound system, excellent engine. A excellent SUV that is good in the snow. Very little road noise. Has metallic paint that is ivory-white. Very comfortable ride on the highway.

It's very roomy and there is great use of space inside.
No complaints. Love that's it higher from the ground - easy to get in to. Rooms & comfortable.

Great and I love it! Easy driving vehicle.
Just the right size to take a trip and being only driver very relaxing. Great driving in the snow. Had recall on airbag replace within two weeks. Love the door code on driver side in case I forget my keys. Great on gas mileage but must keep up on your oil change and tire.

Dual sunroof, heated leather seats, and great on gas!
My car is great, it has leather seats and a dual sunroof. The only problem I have had with it in the last 2 years is that I needed to re-do some of the front end but other than that my car has traveled across country and did amazing! I love my car and I cannot will most likely get another car just like it!

My car is white with black leather interior. It has a Bose speaker system.
I have had no problems. However, I got a new speaker system and apple CarPlay installed after purchasing the car itself. I take it in for routine things but have had no outstanding issues other than that! The trunk is very huge and spacious which makes this a perfect family car as well:)!

Trendy Ford edge has something for everyone!
Love my Ford edge! Great features are Bluetooth, 6-cd stereo with Sony speakers, heated seats, dual-user memory seats, luxury leather, quality paint. Issues have been with the tires/rims/brakes. The low profile tires get mud/snow/ice in the rims which cause shaking and can throw off the alignment. Brakes squeak even after being freshly replaced.

Ford edge, roomy, techy and reliable.
My vehicle is reliable, handles easily, has a lot of room and has great technology system (sync). It has great storage space and a very large sunroof. The heat/ac system is easy to use. I really like the on screen navigation system too. I also like the heated seated.

It's a family car that uses a lot of miles. Love that it has so much storage.
I love the way it rides. Love the heated leather seats. Wish it got better gas mileage.

The 2010 Ford Edge is a terrific car had it to 3 different garages seems like no one can fix all kinds of problems

Go buy something else, Anything else would be better than a Ford.
Fords are all junk, everything breaks and the transmissions are c**p. Replaced trans parts and never had to do that on any other care I ever had.

Great size for a small family of 4 or 5.
The engine shakes when at stop lights/signs. The water pump stopped working and took forever to find someone to work on it due to how they were installed inside the engine. The engine has to be taken apart to even access the water pump. Otherwise I enjoy the size of the vehicle for having children. You can easily fit three car seats in the back seat. The kids have plenty of leg room rear facing and forward facing. It is not quite a big SUV and definitely not a minivan.

Nothing special about it. Just a car. I wish I had not bought it
Not able to all around. The universal joint is too noisy

Buy another year! Great car but the 2010 is not the right one!
The 2010 ford edge is a terrible year for this car. Be sure to look up how difficult it is to replace simple things like the water pump or brake booster... I spent thousands of dollars on things that should have been easy to replace. No other year of this make and model has these problems.
accountCircle Greg G
Routine problems with the transmission, belt, air conditioning and heat. Would not recommend buying as very few of these problems have been addressed in newer models.
That you absolutely, positively, without a shadow of a doubt should not buy a Ford automobile.
accountCircle Breanna F
It is not a bad car, or SUV or crossover.
I really wanted a truck but kind of got stuck with the car. It is not terrible. I spend a lot in repairs to keep it running. Never left me stranded thou. Takes about a $1000 or more or repairs every year to get inspected, but it is older. Decent on gas thou. Has heated seats which I like a lot. Heats up good.

Old soccer mom bucket lol.
The acceleration takes forever to speed up and the noise inside the cabin is more than a little. It could be far more comfortable and less plastic inside on the trims and console. My favorite feature is the sync however sync does not always automatically connect which is very annoying to have to remember to connect it before moving or have no music.

What Do Critics Say About the Edge?

  • Consumer Reports says the Edge is an SUV that handles like a car, and has average owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds gives the Edge a 4.3/5 liking the quiet cabin, but disliking the transmission.
  • Kelley Blue Book users rate the Edge 4.5/5 and enjoy the smooth suspension, but don’t like the lack of a third row.

What Common Problems Does the 2010 Ford Edge Have?

The most common problems found on the 2010 Edge include stalling engines, a bad brake booster, and headliner problems.

Stalling engines are the most common complaint, at roughly 85,000 miles. The main source is usually the spark plugs and coil packs. Replacing the parts costs about $400, and solves most issues.

A faulty brake booster shows up on some Edge models at around 120,000 miles. As the parts age they just simply wear out, and cost about $700 to replace.

Headliner problems, including wrinkling and coming loose are mentioned by owners in the first 20,000 miles. The glue that holds it in place starts to fail, and the only solution is to replace the headliner, which costs nearly $1,000.

There are 7 recalls on the 2010 Edge, with the most serious being for a fuel tank leak that may happen due to corrosion.

How Long Will the 2010 Ford Edge Last?

A properly maintained 2010 Ford Edge should be able to last around 250,000 miles, similar to other midsize SUV rivals like the Honda Pilot. Regular annual maintenance costs are higher than some competitors, according to data from Repair Pal, at $536 per year.

Most Edge models from 2010 will have over 100,000 miles, so buyers should be prepared to replace the starter for $375, the vehicle speed sensor costing $400, and the suspension strut bearing which costs $300.

accountCircle Kelly S

It has no problems at all. The only work we have had to do is take it in for recalls which were done with no problems.

accountCircle Ken W

Has been very reliable. Only problems had alternator replaced and one recall for airbags. Interior has held up exceptional.

accountCircle Sarah R

Yes it has been very reliable the five years I have owned it. Only issue is the electric seat buttons broke.

accountCircle Jacqueline K

Yes it is reliable the only major issue is the brake booster went bad on it and my mechanic couldn't figure that out.

accountCircle Chelcie c

I have had this car for 3 years now and with no major issues other than changing a part that was only a 5 min fix that cost about $80.

accountCircle Nick V

The Edge is very reliable. I have not had any issues with my Edge other than replacing a battery. I do regular maintenance, such as oil changes and check ups and it has proven to be a very good vehicle.

accountCircle Thomas J

Yes it is a reliable vehicle to drive. I've had my vehicle for 7 years and haven't had any major problems.

accountCircle Jennifer A

Over the nine or ten years that I have owned it it’s been extremely reliable as I have had little to no expense outside of normal maintenance

How Much Is the 2010 Ford Edge Worth?

What Colors Does the Edge Come In?

How Big Is the Edge?

The 2010 Ford Edge an average midsize SUV, similar in size to other midsize SUVs like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Nissan Pathfinder. Passenger room is good throughout the cabin, but headroom is limited in the backseats due to the sloping roofline.

Cargo space is comparable to other midsize SUVs with 32.2 cubic feet of room behind the seats, and up to 69 cubic feet with the seats folded flat.

How Does the Edge Compare to the Competition?

The Ford Escape is another rival from Ford, costing about $1,500 less. Off-road performance is better in the Escape, but the Edge is more spacious. We recommend the Edge since it’s more reliable for the 2010 model year with fewer mechanical problems.

The Honda Pilot is another competitor that is only around $500 more. Interior space and technology are better in the Pilot, but the Edge is slightly sportier to drive. We recommend the Pilot since they last longer and have lower ownership costs.

165000 miles of worry free driving
Other than standard oil changes every 5000 miles and the two recalls, the only maintenance has been fuel injector replacement (one went bad and I changed all six at home) and the spark plugs at 90000 miles. The car just developed a leak in the Power Transfer Unit (AWD transfer case) and I am doing research to see if I want to spend 1600 dollars to fix it. Has been a great vehicle for 13+ years.

So disappointing
I love my 2010 Edge, but the mechanic has had it more than me. Master brake cylinder, 800.00. Water pump, 2100.00. In shop now for oil leak. Battery, 200.00, understandable, but ouch.

Ford products are American made / the only auto company/ no bailout package.
The mpg is much lower than what is or was publicized. The vehicle drive a little rough but even having said this I still am a fan of the ford edge. It has a look of an expensive car. The paint finish on my car is black but it has a finish that almost glistens in the sun and can give the impression that it is a car of many colors.

Very dependable vehicle at a very affordable price.
I own a 2010 ford edge se. I love it; I have always liked the room it has, comfort of driving it, and the height of it, I do not feel like I am sitting on the ground. The gas mileage is great as well. It is easy to get small children in and out of. In my personal opinion it's the best SUV around.
accountCircle Shawn M on May 28, 2021
Very comfortable on long car rides.
Handles great. It is very comfortable on long trips, unlike our last car when we would be an hour into a trip and our legs, feet, and back would start hurting, with this car we've gone on a 9 hour trip before and not been hurting. The audio system sounds great when the CD player is working and not just stopping over and over again.
accountCircle Jim H on May 27, 2021
My all time favorite car.
My edge is absolutely great shape for being 10 years old. It has a smaller engine that does not get me the greatest gas mileage, but that is about my only negative thing, bad gas mileage. It has a glass top, that I open every available time, but being in Florida, the summer really does not permit open roofing. Compared to my last car, this edge's air conditioning is ice cold.
accountCircle Mary C on May 23, 2021
2010 ford edge pro and con so far.
This vehicle is incredibly comfortable for long trips, plenty of room front and back. Decent gas mileage for the size. Convenient audio control on steering wheel spacious storage areas. Drives and handles well a little slow acceleration on steep hills but not too bad only issues so far are cosmetic with door handle plastic coming off.
accountCircle Savannah D on May 12, 2021
Ford edge limited; super cute and reliable, but not the best on gas.
I love my car however, with my current work situation I have to drive a lot. My SUV is not the most gas efficient car out on the market sadly. Besides that I absolutely love my car! If you do not have to travel a lot or gas is not a concern for you, the ford edge is perfect for you! The interior is super nice and roomie, as well as the exterior is adorable. I also feel extremely safe in it.

I love my car have not had many issues, other than minor cosmetic things. Brake pads were the first thing to replace. The paint started chipping after about 2 years of me having it, but all in all this is a really good car I couldn't ask for much better.

Love the truck. Very spacious, very reliable.
Comfort rating for the vehicle is definitely 10/10. It is very spacious without being too big. Reliable, never had any issues. Gets me to where I need to be no problem. My one problem is my trunk sensor randomly broke and that caused the cabin lights to stay on.
accountCircle Allison D on April 23, 2021
I like my edge, it has been a very good car, but it does have some issues.
There is an airbag recall on this year vehicle, also, a lot of people have issues with the liftgate saying that it is open, and it is not. Which results in your interior lights staying on for 10 minutes after you cut off your vehicle, and when the vehicle is running they will not go off until you go 10 miles an hour.
accountCircle Yuriana R on April 22, 2021
I love that my back seats fold down completely and has plenary of room.
My car has been very good and well maintained, issues I have had have been simple wear and tear. I have owned this car for 8 years and have had very little issues with her. I have had two separate issues with the air conditioner but nothing that couldn’t be fixed. As for space it is perfect for me and my family.
accountCircle Jordan A on April 19, 2021
Spacious and luxurious vehicle.
The ford edge is more on the luxury side when it comes to older fords. The interior is very spacious with large comfortable seats and a very large truck. The back seats also fold down for more trunk storage. It is very comfortable with fabric seats, air conditioning, heat, many different settings. It also has power seats and power mirrors, as while as a rear windshield wiper. There is both front and rear defrosters, but when the front one is on some heat also comes out of the feet vents.
accountCircle Rachel P on April 14, 2021
2010 ford edge is a good vehicle. Very reliable.
Only issues I have had with my car is the front hubs had to be replaced along with tie rods. No performance issues with engine or transmission. Back wiper blade is difficult to replace. SiriusXM built in along with CD player. My vehicle has cloth seats that are seeing some wear but overall in good condition. Vehicle is showing some rust.

Ford edge review-something I love and wish I could fix.
The gas mileage is not the best on this vehicle. I have also had some problems with the tires wearing unevenly even though I get my tires rotated. It seems like a fair amount of the technology components do not last as I would hope. Some circuits as well as fuses have gone out on the vehicle and have needed to be fixed. It seems these are not the easiest fixes. I would like if the turning radius were better on this vehicle.

My vehicle is 10 years old, looks brand new on the outside, looks brand new on the inside. If it wasn't for the mileage, 92000, I'd swear the previous owner would never have driven the car.

Reliable, comfortable. Great mileage for the gas.
Reliable, comfortable, clean, good view of the road, mirrors great, needs only gas, oil change, rotation of the tires. Good grip of the road the tires. Breaks are good. Minimal maintenance keeps it running great. Can adjust the sound from the steering wheel.

Smooth ride and very flexible payload space!
My Ford edge is very reliable. It is very roomy. It is also extremely flexible since the backs seats can be folded down for extra area to transport items. The edge has even accommodated an entire cord of wood! I am very pleased with the performance of the car in all aspects.

Good mother vehicle with room for sports equipment or extra clothing.
Good car for sports mom. As a young adult, I enjoyed it but realistically didn’t utilize the car as much as I could have. Never used the trunk, etc. Hated the cloth seats, leave weird patterns on your legs. Otherwise, car treated me well, was not terrible on gas, and served my mother well before me.
