Are you researching a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT? If so, you’ve come to the right place. We are going to give you all the important information and highlights about this vehicle. This will help you make an informed buying decision as to whether this is the right car for you.

Why is the 2005 Dodge Magnum RT so popular?

The Dodge Magnum RT is a rear-wheel-drive wagon. It has a 5.7L V8 engine, 340 hp, 390 lb-ft., and it seats up to five people. And, the gas mileage isn’t all that bad either (for a Hemi), at 17-city and 25-highway.

Of course, there’s much more to learn about this one-of-a-kind vehicle. So, let’s first go over a little Dodge Magnum history. Then we will cover all the important information and highlights for this unique, modern-throwback of a vehicle.

Looking Back at the Dodge Magnum

The Magnum wasn’t always sold in the form of a wagon. This vehicle was first produced in 1978 and 1979 as a two-door coupe. After 1979, it was discontinued and renamed on a few of the Dodge models for the years that followed.

From 2005 to 2008, this vehicle was revived as a station wagon and built on the rear-wheel drive Chrysler LX platform

In 2008, the Dodge Magnum was discontinued. It has been rumored that at sometime in 2020, this vehicle would be reintroduced. The rumor is that it would be a five-door station wagon based on the 2008 model, only better.

However, the release date has yet to be announced at the time of this writing. In fact, there isn’t much information other than one mention of such. So, it looks as if this might remain a rumor until further notice.

What are the Dodge Magnum Specs?

The Magnum has a powerful 2.7L V8 engine with 340 hp, 390 lb-ft., five-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, and a towing capacity of 3,800 pounds. It will seat up to five people comfortably with plenty of room to spare.

It also has four-wheel anti-lock brakes, rack and pinion steering, touring suspension tuning, gas-pressurized and coil shocks, and multi-link rear suspension.

What’s Included with the Interior?

This Magnum version has heated bucket leather seats with 60/40 split-bench seats in the back. The driver’s seat is eight-way power-adjustable, and both the driver and passenger seats come with lumbar support.

The Magnum RT comes with a tilt-wheel adjustable steering column, under-seat ducts, cargo concealed storage, a cargo net, cargo tie-downs, overhead and floor consoles, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. And as far as safety features go, it has front-impact multi-stage airbags, front and passenger side curtain airbags, as well as first and second-row curtain airbags.

Does it Have any Convenience and Entertainment Features?

Yes, it has both. It comes with cruise control, power windows and doors, adjustable pedals, a theft-deterrent system, and a low tire pressure warning alert.

The entertainment system comes with a radio, six Boston Acoustics speakers, an amplifier, and a dash-mounted CD player. There was also an optional cassette player add-on as well.

So, you might see some with a cassette player. It was also offered with optional steering wheel audio controls, Bluetooth, and an optional navigation system. That means many of the 2005 Dodge Magnum RTs could have different features depending on which options were added by its previous owner.

Other Optional Features

Speaking of optional features, there were other optional features available. So again, each vehicle could have different features depending on what was previously added.

There was what was called a Cpos Package. This package included a 3.5L high output engine, four-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, all-speed traction control, and an HD engine cooling feature. It also included sunscreen glass, an SXT appearance group with SXT badge, 17-inch aluminum machined wheels, a cargo cover, illuminated visor vanity mirrors, and more.

Final Thoughts…

Most people who own a Magnum love it. The owner reviews are mostly positive and state that it’s reliable and roomy. However, most people are not too keen on the gas mileage, but that’s typical of the Hemi engine of years past.
