Alternator May Fail Resulting in an Engine Stall

NHTSA Recall ID: 14V634000

In October 2014, Dodge issued a recall for certain 2011-2014 Dodge Charger models that were manufactured between April 22, 2010 and January 2, 2014, and equipped with a 3.6L engine and a 160 amp alternator.

On affected models, the alternator may fail while the vehicle is in operation, causing the engine to stall and greatly increasing the risk of an accident. To repair this issue, Dodge has offered to replace the alternator free of charge on all affected models.

Alternator May Fail Resulting in an Engine Stall/Fire

NHTSA Recall ID: 14V634000

In October 2016, Dodge issued a recall for certain 2011-2014 Dodge Charger Police models that had been equipped with a 220 amp alternator, stating that the alternator may fail while the vehicle is in operation and cause the engine to stall.

The recall also states that the alternator may short circuit on affected models as well, creating the risk of a fire. To repair this issue, Dodge has offered to replace the alternator free of charge on all affected models.

In July 2017, Dodge issued a recall for certain 2011-2014 Dodge Charger models that had been equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering, either a 5.7L or 3.6L engine, and either a 160, 180, or 220 amp alternator.

On affected models, the alternator may fail while the vehicle is in operation, causing the engine to stall and greatly increasing the risk of an accident. To repair this issue, Dodge has offered to replace the alternator free of charge on all affected models.

Alternator May Fail Resulting in an Engine Stall

NHTSA Recall ID: 17V741000

In November 2017, Dodge issued a recall for certain 2014 Dodge Charger models that had been equipped with a 3.6L engine and a 160 amp alternator, citing a faulty alternator that may fail and cause the vehicle to stall while it is in operation.

To repair this issue, Dodge has offered to replace the alternator free of charge on all affected models.

How Do You Handle an Open Recall on a Dodge Charger?
