Thankfully, we will take a look at each of these issues to help you decide if the Chrysler 200 is the right choice for your next used automotive purchase.

7 Problems Common in the Chrysler 200

Issues with the Chrysler 200 can be found across all model years. However, the 2015 Chrysler 200 has received the most complaints of any Chrysler 200 model, with the 2012 Chrysler 200 coming in second.

Here is a breakdown of all the issues you should watch for if you own or are looking to purchase a Chrysler 200.

Heater Doesn’t Work on the Passenger Side

On a cold day, a car’s heater suddenly becomes a very important feature. Unfortunately, the passenger side heater in the 2012 Chrysler 200 has received a wide range of complaints for failing to work properly and, in numerous cases, failing to work at all.

Engine Stalls While Driving

Having your car’s engine stall in the middle of operation is both a major inconvenience and a serious safety concern, and a wide range of 2015 Chrysler 200 owners have filed complaints stating that the car’s engine died while driving and required costly repairs to fix.

Rough and Jerky Shifting

Owners of a high-quality car such as the Chrysler 200 expect its shifting to be smooth and flawless.

However, many owners of the 2015 Chrysler 200 have found its shifting to be anything but, filing complaints that describe the 2015 Chrysler 200’s shifting as rough, grinding, and causing the vehicle to jerk during shifting.

Transmission Failure

Transmission failure is a problem that renders a vehicle completely inoperable as well as one that is costly to fix. Unfortunately, according to numerous owner complaints, the 2015 Chrysler 200 is prone to transmission failure.

Car Stutters When Pressing on the Gas

Various owners of the 2015 Chrysler 200 have described an issue with the vehicle’s engine that causes the car to stutter then ultimately lurch forward when the gas is applied, making it difficult to predict how the car will react during acceleration and creating a concerning safety hazard.

Car Slips into Neutral While Driving

A number of complaints have been filed for the 2015 Chrysler 200 citing an issue with the transmission that causes the car to unexpectedly shift into neutral while driving.

Battery Dying

Car batteries don’t last forever and need to be replaced periodically. Owners of the 2012 Chrysler 200, though, have reported an issue with the vehicle’s electrical system that causes the battery to frequently go dead no matter how new it might be.

Engine dies when you fill the tank with gas
When you fill your gas tank, the car starts stuttering, and the engine dies. It does this off and on until you have driven the car long enough to get the gas level down. We didn't know what it was and dealt with the inconvenience, not topping our tank, but one day we forgot, and the engine died in rush hour traffic in Phoenix at the I-10 and I-14 stack. Incredibly dangerous. I took the car in and found out the fix requires replacing the tank, fuel pump nodule, and canister, which is $3,835. We talked to others who owned the car, and they had the same problem. The dealership said there was no recall for our VIN and showed disbelief that the problem had been there since we bought the car. I called Chrysler, and they said they didn't have anything that showed the problem was associated with the Chrysler 200. They also said they didn't have a record that we were the owners; we owned the car for three years and serviced it at multiple dealerships. They were supposed to send us an email verifying we own the car so that they could send any future notifications if there were any. They haven't e-mailed us. Beautiful car but the brand and model are untrustworthy.

2016 Chrysler 2016 keeps shutting off while driving
My vehicle keeps stalling and shutting off while driving. When I fill my gas tank, it won’t immediately start. I have to avoid driving on the freeway because my vehicle keeps shutting off. This is dangerous. I would not recommend to purchase Chrysler 200. Every time I turn right, it stalls out and I have to shift to park and restart the vehicle.
