Gray 2020 Ford Fusion In Motion

One great thing about the 2020 Ford Fusion is that it has an anti-theft system. If you have accidentally set it off, however, then you may be asking, “What is the Ford Fusion anti-theft system reset procedure?”

What is the Ford Fusion anti-theft system reset procedure?

Resetting your anti-theft system is as easy as turning your key in the ignition eight times in 10 seconds, leaving the last turn in the “run” position. Then, press and hold a button on the remote for 30 seconds to lock the vehicle.

In this article, we’ll go into more detail on the steps you should take if your alarm is going off.

The Ford Anti-Theft System

Like many vehicles from various brands, Ford offers SecuriLock on its vehicles. This used to be called the Passive Anti-Theft System, or PATS. This anti-theft system is passive, and it has been in place since 1996. The nice thing about this system is that it is now used with keyless entry systems, allowing you to control your security features from your key fob.

Ford also has a secondary system that you may have installed on your vehicle. That system, called the Vehicle Security System, has an Interior Theft Sensor (IT-s) and works with the factory-supplied keyless entry to lock or unlock your doors while simultaneously activating or deactivating your alarm system. The two-step perimeter alarm is also included, which sounds off with the Real Panic Sound if the security of your vehicle is threatened. A warning chirp also sounds for minor impacts to the vehicle.

Ford sells a variety of security system accessories. Below, you’ll learn how to deactivate the SecuriLock system.

What is the Ford Fusion Anti-Theft System Reset Procedure?

The good news about Ford’s anti-theft system SecuriLock is that it’s easy to reset if you have your key handy. If you have your key and can enter your vehicle, then you can start the process of resetting your anti-theft system and alarm by:

  • Placing the key into the ignition.
  • Turning the key from the “off” position to the “run” position eight times, quickly, within 10 seconds.
  • Leaving the last turn in the “run” position.
  • Listening for the locks to click. When they do, all you have to do is hold down any button on your remote for 30 seconds, and the alarm system will reset itself.

With the other system, the IT-s and Vehicle Security System, all you have to do is use your key fob to turn the system on or off, so it’s always in your control.
