2019 was a predictably solid year for full-size pickups, with the Ram finally overtaking the Silverado for second place. SUVs dominate the top ten this year with the Rogue, CR-V, RAV4, and Equinox taking up four spots while cars and trucks hold just three places apiece.

The Ford F-Series sees a small dip in sales for 2019, dropping 1.41% to 896,526, back below the 900k mark, but still maintaining a lead of several hundred thousand units over the second best seller.

Ford gives the F-150 a round of visual upgrades for 2019, including a stamped F-150 badge on the rear and a new grille, but the real changes this year were under the hood, with a turbo-diesel V6 being added to the lineup, along with revamped versions of the automaker’s 2.7L V6 EcoBoost, and 5.0L V8 engines.

Ram Pickup

The Ram Pickup finally overtakes the Silverado in 2019, selling 633,694 units by the end of the year, nearly 100,000 more than the brand moved in 2018.

For 2019, the Ram pickup was made a little bigger, and a little lighter. The cab length was increased by four inches so you get a bit more legroom, and they shaved 225 pounds off the overall weight of the truck by transplanting some high-strength steel and aluminum into the build.

The Chevrolet Silverado had a respectable 2019, selling 575,569, it just wasn’t quite enough units to keep them ahead of the Ram Pickup, despite Chevy giving the vehicle a substantial redesign comparable to the Ram’s.

2019 was a big year for the Silverado, with the iconic full-size truck featuring as a pace truck in that year’s Daytona 500, showing off its new body style dropping 450 pounds off the 2018 model by swapping some exterior panels out for aluminum.

Toyota RAV4

Toyota saw a 4.89% increase in sales for the RAV4 in 2019, putting them at 448,068 units sold by the end of the year.

The Toyota RAV4 got a visual redesign for 2019 making it look a little more rugged, a little more muscular, and a little more outdoorsy. More importantly, the AWD system was heavily revised for 2019, with the addition of electronic rear driveline disconnect, which allows you to switch into front-wheel drive to conserve fuel when necessary.

Honda CR-V

Honda’s CR-V sales for 2019 hit 384,168 units sold, roughly on par with the nameplate’s 2018 sales.

If you’re looking at the brochure and scratching your head trying to figure out what they changed for 2019, all Honda did was add a new coat of paint. Literally. They added Platinum White Pearl to the exterior color lineup. That’s it. So if you’re deciding between a used 2018 or 2019 CR-V, go with whatever has fewer miles on it.

Nissan Rogue

The Nissan Rogue saw a big dip in sales for 2019, selling 350,447 units by year’s end. An impressive number overall, but 14.96% lower than the brand sold in 2018.

2018 added ProPILOT Assist as an option for Rogue SL drivers. For 2019, ProPILOT comes standard in the SL. That’s the only change worth noting for the 2019 Nissan Rogue. So, as with the CR-V, just buy whatever you can find with low mileage on the odometer.

Chevrolet Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox climbs a few points in the rankings for 2019, selling 346,049 units, a 4.04% growth from 2018.

For 2019, the Equinox gets a whole range of tech upgrades to make driving the vehicle a little bit safer. Rear park assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert, side blind zone alert, everything you need to bring the SUV into the modern age.

Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry sold 336,978 units in 2019, which is roughly on par with how many Camry units Toyota was able to sell in the previous year.

Toyota added Apple CarPlay to the Camry for 2019. That’s it. There were no significant mechanical, technological, or cosmetic changes to the Camry for 2019. This may explain why they didn’t exactly blow their previous year’s sales out of the water, but if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

Honda Civic

The Honda Civic sold 325,650 units in 2019, just 110 short of the previous year’s sales numbers. 2019 wasn’t a big year for the nameplate, but the iconic compact has had little trouble holding steady in the top ten.

2019 saw a handful of little tweaks for the Honda Civic. The cabin is a little quieter, the exterior gets a blacked out grille, you’ll find a chrome strip on the bumper, and there are some new wheel designs available, including a slick 18-inch set for the Touring model. Nothing revolutionary, but some welcome changes here and there.

Toyota Corolla

For 2019, the Toyota Corolla sees a tiny bump in sales up to 304,850, just over a thousand units more than Toyota sold in 2018.

Toyota adds a cool rear spoiler to the 2019 Corolla, giving it a neat, sporty look. They’ve also added Bi-LED and Multi-LED headlights, and there’s a new 2.0L four-cylinder engine under the hood delivering 168 horsepower, an improvement of 31 horses over the 2018 model.
