A 2000 Dodge Durango has a standard tow capacity of 4,100 pounds with a payload of 1,711 pounds. The tongue weight iS410. The engine torque varies between the v8 engines, froM293 ft-lbs. This is a fairly low standard for towing but it will be able to tow a small boat or trailer. If You want to use it for heavier loads You will have to upgrade or get a towing package equipped which will add different shocks and a transmission cooler to keep everything running at a high level without overheating. The transmission cooler is one of the best things You can do to keep the transmission from overheating while the vehicle is carrying a heavy load. This will avoid having Your transmission gears warped and grind and keep it running at its peak levels for longer.
