The recommended oil that should be used in the 2000 Ford Mustang iS5W-20 Synthetic in all temperatures. The capacity for the vehicle iS5 quarts with a filter. The torque for the drain plug is 19 ft/lbs for the 3.8 L V6 and 10 ft/lbs for the 4.6 L V8 engine. Oil is really important because it helps to keep the engine clean. You should do an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles because it goes bad after a while and You should change the filter at the same time. It takes pretty much no time to do an oil change, only about 5 to 15 minutes so don't put it off. The cost of a change is between $30 and $40 in labor costs.

Originally, the 3.8L V6 engine option and the 4.6L V8 engine option in the 2000 Ford Mustang both required 5 quarts of 5W30 synthetic oil. Ford has since issued a service bulletin changing that to 5 quarts of 5W20 synthetic oil. The 5.4L V8 engine option in the 2000 Ford Mustang uses 6 quarts of 5W20 per the Ford service bulletin.
