The 2001 Acura MDX has a 3.5 L V6 engine that needS5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil in all temperatures or 10W-30 in above 19 F temperatures. The capacity for the vehicle iS4.5 quarts without a filter or 5 quarts with a filter and the torque for the drain plug is 29 ft/lbs. 5W-30 means that 5 is the thickness or the viscosity of the oil at startup, w is for winter and 30 is the thickness or the viscosity at operating speeds. Oil is really important because it helps to keep the engine clean. You should change the oil and the filter every 5,000 miles or so because it doesn't last forever. The cost of a change is anywhere from $50 to $60 in labor costs.
