The 2001 Nissan Maxima uses a P215/55R16 size tire form the factory. This number may seem long and complexBut it is pretty easy to break down to understand the meaning. The first number, 215, is the tire's tread with in millimeters. The second number, 55, is the tire's sidewall height in millimeters. The third number, 16, is the rim size in inches. That means that Your car came witH16 inch rims from the factory. Nissan recommends that You inflate each tire to 32psi. This is recommended to give You the best braking performance. Keeping Your tires properly inflated also helps them last longer. Tires that are under or over inflated will wear less evenly than ones that are properly inflated.
