The 2003 Mercedes benz C-Class oil type and capacity is 0W-40 and 5.8 quarts. Having high quality oil is key for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into issues with the oil at some point. Knocking noise may show up from the engine. Bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. A common problem is an awful burning smell. This needs to be inspected as soon as possible or the car might explode. You could experience bad gas mileage. Your oil needs to be replaced eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be issues with the engine.

The standard 1.8L inline-4 engine in the 2003 Mercedes-Benz C230 uses 5.8 quarts of synthetic oil. Both versions of the 2.6L V6 engine in the 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 requires 7.9 quarts of oil. The viscosities very based on weather: all temperatures can use 0W30/5W30/0W40/5W40/5W50 above -4 F needs 10W30/10W40/10W50/10W60 above 5 F requires 15W40/15W50 and above 23 F use 20W40/20W50. NOTE: For those 2003 C230s with an oil cooler you'll need additional oil.
