The 2003 Subaru Forester came standard with a 2.5L 4Cylinder engine in all models and there was no option for any other motor. The capacity for this engine will be 4.2 US quarts when the filter is included. For oil type You will need to use synthetic blend 5W-30. This vehicle will need to have it's oil changed out between every 5,000 and 7,500 miles to avoid causing damage to the the engine.

Subaru requires different viscosities of oil for the 2003 Subaru Forester's 2.5L box-4 engine: 5W30 is preferred or below 104 F 10W30 or 10W40 for above -4 F 30 weight or 40 weight or 10W50 or 20W40 or 20W50 for weather above 95 F or for heavy use such as towing. No matter the viscosity you need, the amount is the same: 4.2 quarts.
