The 2004 Mercedes benz C-Class oil type and capacity iS5w-30 and 5.8 quarts for the 1.8 L inline-4 engine. Having high quality oil is important for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. Knocking noise may come about from the engine. You could experience terrible gas mileage. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. Your oil needs to be changed out someday. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be problems with the engine.

The standard engine the 1.8L inline-4 for the 2004 Mercedes-Benz C230 uses 5.8 quarts of synthetic oil. The 2004 Mercedes-Benz C240's 2.6L V6 engine (engine code 112.912 1) takes 7.9 quarts of oil while the other version of the 2.6L V6 engine (engine code 112.912 4) needs 7.4 quarts of synthetic oil. Mercedes-Benz recommends one of these viscosities: 0W30/5W30/0W40/5W40/5W50.
